Elizabeth Lee enjoys her handwoven Story Shawl on an Autumn day, with Sweetie. Story Shawls

We all have many stories, that, when woven together, comprise the fabric of our lives. Storytelling is an ancient way of relating experiences, lessons, messages from the Spirit world, helpful dreams and ways of embracing our authentic selves. We share stories for many reasons, to relate to each other as humans, to strengthen our bonds with loved ones and to bring into physical reality what we hold inside of us, for release, freedom, protection and to enhance positive qualities.

Weaver Kathy Litchfield works with yarn to weave stories, to create unique pieces with special meaning to their bearers.

Wrapping yourself in a “Story Shawl” enables you to not only feel the warmth of chenille, cotton, alpaca, wool and/or mohair, but to feel ensconced in the creative, positive energy of protection, beauty and light.

Night in the Woods Handwoven Shawl with mixed fiber

Story Shawl "Starry Night"

“Relaxing in the woods one clear, autumn night, I listened in silence to the creatures who awaken in the dark. The night was alive with sounds! A curious squirrel paused mid tree-trunk to chew upon an acorn at dusk, his teeth scraping and grinding away. The sun descended amidst a rosy, violet painted sky, down beyond the hillside. As darkness fell, owls sang, “who cooks for you, all?” from treetop to treetop just above me, while chipmunks disrupted mounds of slumbering dry leaves on the forest floor with their scurrying. The moon, a bright white silvery crescent, rose in the twilit sky and the animals quieted. This sacred time brought magic and dreams. Deep in the night, coyotes gathered to howl at the moon, and we did too.”
